Tuxedo Junction is heralded as the Best Big Band in the Inland Empire. This fantastic band is made up of an all-star cast of musicians and vocalists from the Coeur d'Alene -Spokane area. It's music ranges from the golden era of the Big Bands to the new standards of today. Everything from Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Duke Ellington to waltzes. Latin and more allow the sound of this Big Band to be a thrill for all. Their sound consists of strong soloists, and solid ensemble playing, making this a truly entertaining experience.
Handful of Luvin' is a 4-piece folk/rock group from Seattle, WA. The musicians are David John lead vocals, acoustic guitar, Andrew Jocelyn 5 string electric violin, Patrick Files bass guitars, vocals and Mike Knight drums, vocals. Handful of Luvin' is an eclectic blend of harmony and considerate lyrics. Spawned from Seattle H.L.J. is one of the city's most adored live bands. The band is a unique blend of writing, juices and over all emotion. Together Handful of Luvin' fashions music into an adaptation of magic.
Musician, composer and recording artist Scott Cossu is hard to categorize. His background in jazz and rhythm and blues, combined with his years of classical training and his study of ethnic music from Sudan, Thailand, China, Rumania and Ecuador result in a unique music that has been performed in concerts worldwide and recorded since 1981. Scott has produced many successful albums and has toured the world, giving more than 1000 concerts. His latest recording projects include a fusion of classical and jazz styles. Scott's work also includes scores for the acclaimed PBS series Nova, film documentaries and nature videos.
For 30 years, the Coeur d'Alene Symphony Orchestra has been bringing the best in musical entertainment to the people of this region. This season's offerings feature a variety of regional groups and music selected to please a wide range of tastes ranging from Beethoven to modern composers. The many faces of the Orchestra include the full orchestra of approximately 70 musicians, the Chamber Orchestra with 15 to 40 musicians, and smaller groups from trios to octets. Grammy award-winners, Tingstad & Rumbel, universally known for the perfect blend of Americana finger style guitar, oboe, English and ocarina, have expanded the duo into their 19th recording, Leap of Faith. This is American home-style music at its finest with eclective flavors and international spice. From the mot often requested song in their career, Medicine Tree, to traditional Asian folk tunes, Tex-Mex stylings, Caribbean rhythms, American songbook covers and Americana roots, "Leap of Faith" captures the energy and excitement of their live performances.
The musical group Coeurimba has brought exciting Zimbabwe-style marimba music to thousand of people around the Pacific Northwest for over 2 decades. The players create intricate polyrhythmic patterns on large wooden xylophones called marimbas. On the impressive bass and 8 mid-sized instruments, Coeurimba achieves a full range of resonating sound to entertain listeners of all ages with their fascinating African music. The high energy tunes get toes tapping, people dancing and kids playing on the rhythm shakers.
"The Eclectics" have over a century of combined musical experience between them. This trio specializes in music from the "Great American Songbook", with emphasis on popular songs from the 30's, 40's and 50's. Pianist Ray (Doc) Clemons is a retired dentist; JJ Dion (guitar, banjo, vocals) makes his living as a musician all around the Northwest, and vocalist Ruth Pratt is the director of the Coeur d'Alene Library Foundation.
Tedesca ensemble is an exciting Quartet of Mom's who have devoted their lives to music and their families. Tracy Dunlop, Chari Bickford, Tana Bland and Cheryl Carney have been friends and musical partners since they first met over a decade ago and have each played for many Spokane ensembles, collectively logging in over 50 years in the Spokane Symphony, and have, individually, performed with ensembles across the Nation and overseas. But, our main focus is to play the music we love while enjoying as much time with our families as possible! Time Flies! Our dream and our mission are to bring this wonderful music to people who wouldn't generally have the opportunity to hear it and to use our music to support organizations that help families and the community. Tonight's program will feature some of our favorite Tangos arranged for String Quartet!
The San Francisco Scottish Fiddlers will take you on a lively musical journey to Scotland, Cape Breton, Appalachia, and other points on the fiddling map. With deep roots in Celtic music, the group fills the state with music, dance, song and energy, and has been aptly called "a wild bunch of anarchistic, rabblerousing musicians." Varying widely in age and backgrounds, the fiddlers are drawn together by their love of Celtic traditional music. Prized in the group is the ability to play by ear, to feel the music deep in one's soul, and be enough in the moment to follow spontaneous changes of direction during performances.
The Kosher Red Hots open the treasury of Jewish music. They embrace a timeless world-café of folk songs and whirlwind klezmer dances from Eastern Europe, Judeo-Spanish romances from the eastern Mediterranean and the songs and swings of New York's Yiddish theater. They have collaborated with NPR's Susan Samberg and have inspired dancing in the aisles on A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor. The musicians are an adventurous vocalist who leads Yiddish dancing and sings in Yiddish, Ladino, and English, and three master instrumentalists on clarinet, accordion, bass and guitar.

Ty, a Coeur d'Alene native, is a singer songwriter who began his music career in High School. He has recently released his third CD of soft rock music in which he has written, sung, and played his acoustical guitar. Ty is currently residing in Portland, Oregon with his wife and son.
Jason Byers has been fascinated with magic, illusion and how easily the senses are deceived, since fourth grade when he did a report on Harry Houdini. While Jason was in sixth grade, he met Bob Jagger, a well known Boise magician who mentored him and fostered his growing interest in magic. When bob opened Alkazam! Magic shop, Jason worked there learning new magic and performing techniques everyday. Jason started with close-up tricks using cards and coins and his repertoire of magic grew larger and his tricks more complex. At age 13 he gave his first public performances. Today, at the age of 24 he is an award-winning illusionist and an expert in the art of deception. He has performed before thousands of people across America.
Kathy Colton & the Reluctants have performed around the local area and the region for several years. The Reluctants consist of Denise Bartlett, Maxine Whiteside, Carla Grant and Kathy with lead vocals and guitar. These women form a strong and dynamic group with powerful harmonies, strong messages of love and a great time on the stage.
The Chosen is a song and dance troupe from Uganda, Africa, consisting of six children, ages 7 to 12. These children are in the care of AOET, Aids Orphans Education Trust, which is an independent, indigenous non-government, non-profit organization in Uganda. The prime mandate of AOET is to provide education to desperately poor orphans whose parents have died of aids. Sam Tushabe, the Founder and Director, is himself an AIDS orphan who was raised in a Christian orphanage. The Smooth Tannins a fresh rhythmic sound out from the Northwest. This five-piece pack of musicians is throwing their hat in the ring with their first release "Lessons in Time", their original blend of smooth jazz and progressive rock delights audiences at Icicle Ridge Winery in Central Washington. This mixed vocal ensemble features 18 of the Inland Empire's most talented and versatile musicians whose repertoire includes a wide variety of music such as classical sacred, American spirituals, contemporary, pop, and vocal jazz. The Ensemble has been featured in Spokane at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes, Art on the Green, the Block Party of First Presbyterian Church, as the carolers for the Coeur d'Alene Symphony's Christmas Concert, and at the Kroc Center Opening Gala. The Ensemble is a featured performing group at Northwest Sacred Music Chorale performances. It is accompanied by Marietta Hardy and directed by Gaynell Coppess. Studio S Dance Company is a dance studio for all skill levels for ages three to adult. We offer instruction in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Lyrical. We believe that you can have fun while learning the technique and art of dance. Our students get to perform twice a year, a holiday show and a springtime show.
An Dóchas, Irish for "The Hope," presents traditional Irish music and dance fused with the energy of rock and the colorings of folk. The Haran Irish Dancers have made multiple trips to the Irish Step Dancing World Championships. Together with An Dóchas, they have performed to sold out audiences throughout the U.S. and shared the stage with Cherish the Ladies, Solas, and Chris Thile of Nickle Creek. A recent CD "Dragonfly Redux" has won Best Celtic Instrumental Album from Just Plain Folks Worldwide Music Community. www.andochas.com. Armed with an acoustic guitar and an engaging personality, Cheryl performs original folk-pop songs. She released her first cd, Disappear, in 2006 featuring the song Flip Flops which received local and national airplay. In 2008 she released her second cd, The Christmas Gift, which received airplay all over the world. With her skillful vocals, honest lyric style and silly chit-chat between songs, Cheryl's entertaining performances continue to draw new fans.
CCA and Friends established the Patrick Flammia Drawing Institute to provide opportunities for artists of all ages to have drawing classes with quest artists. Additional plans for future institutes are being developed, and suggestions are welcome. Call Allen Dodge, Suzy Gerber, Ann Porter Brown or Sue Flammia. One of the founders of CCA and Art on the Green, Patrick Flammia loved to draw, and his drawings and paintings are in numerous collections.
Please visit the sculpture "Reflections" by the rose garden, near the Juried Show, which has a sketchbook honoring Patrick included as part of the bench, situated by the stainless steel "waves." "Reflections" was created by artists Harold Balazs and Allen Dodge, and presented to North Idaho College by CCA and Friends.

Citizens' Council for the Arts Presents international Exhibition of Botanical Art and Illustration from the Hunt Institute. This traveling version of artworks contains 71 artworks by 51 artists from 12 countries. Each artist brings a personal aesthetic sensibility to the subject.
Botanical societies are flourishing around the world, and florilegium (this is the correct spelling!) societies are developing and inviting the best artists to contribute works, not only for artistic merit but also as a historical record. Indeed , we are experiencing a renaissance of botanical art.
